Editorial Policy & Medical Review Process
SickPet.ai is a veterinarian-led platform. This page explains how we create, review, and maintain every piece of pet health content we publish, so you know what you are reading is clinically sound.
Veterinary oversight
Every article published on SickPet.ai is written or edited by a qualified veterinarian and clinically reviewed by a second veterinarian before publication. Our clinical reviewers hold recognised veterinary degrees (BVSc, DVM, or equivalent) and are registered with their national veterinary bodies (RCVS, AVMA, or equivalent). Reviewer names and credentials appear on every article.
Clinical sourcing standards
Our content is informed by established veterinary clinical guidelines and peer-reviewed sources, including Merck Veterinary Manual, veterinary consensus statements, ASPCA Animal Poison Control data, BSAVA and AAHA guidelines, and primary research published in peer-reviewed journals. We do not rely on anecdote, unverified owner forums, or marketing material.
Content review cadence
Pet health guidance evolves. Each article is scheduled for clinical re-review at least every 12 months, and sooner if new evidence, drug-safety alerts, or guideline changes emerge. The clinical review date is displayed on every article so you can see when it was last verified.
How we use AI
SickPet.ai uses AI to scale access to veterinary-grade triage guidance. AI assists with drafting and synthesis, but every piece of published content is checked and signed off by a qualified veterinarian. Our AI triage assessments are decision-support tools: they help you judge urgency and next steps, but they do not replace a hands-on examination by a licensed veterinarian.
Corrections policy
If you believe any SickPet.ai content contains a clinical inaccuracy, please contact us through our Contact page with the article URL and your concern. Clinical corrections are reviewed by our veterinary team and applied promptly. Substantive corrections are noted on the article with an updated review date.
Conflicts of interest
SickPet.ai is independent. Our clinical content is not influenced by advertisers, sponsors, or product manufacturers. Where we mention a specific product, medication, or clinic, it is because it is clinically relevant, not because of a commercial arrangement. We do not accept payment to alter, add, or remove clinical guidance.
Important: SickPet.ai content is for educational purposes and is not a substitute for professional veterinary diagnosis or treatment. If you are worried about your pet right now, use our AI triage assessment or find a nearby open clinic on our vet locator.
